Feeding Millions Every Year

In 2019, the Groundfish Forum fleet produced 442 million pounds of processed fish worth approximately $398 million.  Yellowfin sole, Atka mackerel, Pacific Ocean perch and rock sole typically account for the largest portion of the fleet’s harvest volume and value.  Alaska’s yellowfin sole fishery is the largest flatfish fishery in the world and the state produces 66% of the country’s flatfish (excluding halibut) and supplies 24% of the world’s flatfish.  On average, we produce 613 million meals annually.
